Fiber optics connection operationnal!

My fiber optics connection is now fully operationnal since a few days. The teapot is connected and routing rules are configured. DNS redirections are activated, and with my reduced TTL, they should be diffused in all DNS servers now.

My first speed tests are good: 95 mbits/second for downloading and 10 mbits/second for uploading. The ISP contract announce an maximum speed of 100 mbits/second  for downloading and 10 mbits/second for uploading.

To compare, my last test with ADSL connexion was 10 mbits/second  for downloading and 0,8 mbits/second for uploading.

Now I need to find a way to check the uptime of this new connection.

Changing ISP - Risk of system downtime

I planned to change my ISP next week to switch from ADSL to optical fiber. Network interruption may occurs during the change, but I'll do my best to keep my teapot up. I didn't forget the lessons of my first posts: I already planned to change the TTL of my DNS configuration.

Fun with logs - User Agents

I started reading my logs by studying User Agents used by teapot visitors.

The User Agent is the software used for a visite on a website. Each User Agent let a specific string in the log.

I was very surprised by the diversity of browser used to visit my website. It gives a small idea of the difficulties to make a website compatible for all visitors. Here is an overview of what is see:
